Nepal offers a good placement to practice medical elective programs from well equipped large hospital to small community Health Centers. Hospitals with hundreds of beds and wide range of departments are mailly based in major cities like Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan etc, whereas the community clinics are working in urban and countryside. Now days there are many private hospitals and nursing homes are opened in towns that are running as research centers and teaching hospitals. The private nursing homes and hospital are affiliated with different and running under different universities. Most of the private hospitals are more expensive compare to government hospital however they are providing good services to patients.
We place medical students in Government under taking hospital like Teaching Hospital, Kanti Children Hosptial, Bir Hospital and Patan Hospital and Charak Hospital (private) in Pokhara. Comparing to private governments hospital are more affordable to low income level people that provide various services like OPD, general Surgical, ENT, Cardiology, Obstrestic , emergency, Psycatric, general medicine. As per students requirement they will enrolled in any departments. The times begin from patient visit round with a professor, his team, local counter and other foreigner students. After finishing round students will be based on related department by shadowing doctors. In additional times they will have a time to go library. .
As a student you will be:
Students will be engaged for 6 days a week except public holiday for 5 to 7 hours that depends on professorâ€™s assignment. Sometimes if there are any workshops or symposium then students are welcome to take a part in related functions. After completing placement they will be certified and signed in documents which have to be submitted in their university.

Upon arrival, you will be picked up at the airport in Kathmandu and placed in a hostel. You will go to Hands for Help office to introduce with staff member, code of conduct about Hands for Help Nepal and briefing about your project and placement.The orientation period goes appropriate to length of volunteering and necessities. Housing students will be staying at the hostel or host family. Our host family will provide two meals breakfast and dinner and two or more times tea. Students will get their own room or share with their friend if they come in group and share wash room with host family. Our host families are very helpful and experienced in hosting international students since tens of years.
Travel and Tour:
Depending in students interest and time availability they can combine their placement with travel and trek activities such as trekking, rafting, jungle safari, travel around Nepal, paragliding, bungee jumping, meditating, doing Yoga course etc.
